Our high school program in the Harlem Center offers free college prep services, such as assistance in college and financial aid applications, SAT prep courses, and college campus tours. Most of our students are low income, first generation and are from all over New York City. Our students from class of 2018 were accepted into 4 year public and private colleges, such as Oneonta, New Paltz, Oswego, Binghamton, Stony Brook, Norwich University, Marist College, St. John’s, College of Saint Rose, and all CUNY schools. This year our students of class of 2019 have been accepted to Clark Atlanta University, Georgia State, LeMoyne, University of Miami, Johnson & Wales, Siena College, University of Harbord, as we con&nue wai&ng for more acceptances. Our program’s purpose is to guide and help inspire students from disadvantaged backgrounds and lead them on their pursuit of higher education. We are proud of all our students.
The High School program is a program funded through Federal TRIO Talent Search program in the US Department of Education. The program serves over 500 students annually in two target high schools – HS of Law and Public Service and The College Academy, which are a part of the George Washington Education complex.
The program works with high school students (9th – 12th grades) to provide FREE SERVICES:
- Career, Academic, College and Financial Aid advising
- Curriculum Advisement
- Tutoring
- Assistance in searching for and selecting colleges and sources of financial aid;
- Assistance in Applying to Colleges and for financial aid;
- Workshops
- College Campus Visits
- Mentoring
- Workshops on Financial Planning and literacy for both parents and students
- College Admissions Tests Prep Classes and tracking of students once enrolled in college

Our primary target high schools for this component are:
High School of Law and Public Service
The High School for Law and Public Service, opened in 1999 in the George Washington Educational Complexcheck this, is a well-established school with stable leadership and above average attendance.
The school is popular, with 1,840 students applying for 180 spots in 2011. Many of the students are English Language Learners. At the school, students learn about the public sector, law and how to make positive changes in the community.
The school offers a variety of Advanced Placement classes, and founding principal Nicholas Politis told Insideschools.org in 2008 that teachers encourage students to retake Regents tests many times in order to score a 75 and be competitive at CUNY schools. Most students graduated with a Regents diploma in 2011.
The College Academy
Housed in the George Washington High School complex, the College Academy offer students a chance to create their own mock business as part of the Virtual Enterprise program. The school has a dress code of white or light blue shirt and navy or black pants.
Formerly called the High School for International Business and Finance, the schools name was changed in 2010. The school has above average attendance and a graduation rate that is slightly above the citywide average.
